Check wheel rotation by lifting the wheel and turning by hand. It should rotate w/ slight drag from brake pad/rotor contact. You should be able to turn by hand from outside rim w/ modest effort. If hard to turn at all, then brake drag is excessive. Check caliper pin boots and lube.
